About CCT
Mission and Objectives
Our Mission: to preserve Colorado’s special places by fostering leadership, strategic initiatives, and increased investments in conservation.
We attract new funding to preserve Colorado’s most special places. We help individuals, families and foundations direct their conservation investments to projects that achieve their goals and accomplish important conservation outcomes, while leveraging additional public and private funding. We encourage businesses to do their part. We partner with conservation groups and public agencies to conserve the land in the most strategic and effective way possible. And we work directly with local communities to create buffers against sprawl and protect critical wildlife habitat, scenic vistas, healthy river corridors, and working farms and ranches.
CCT’s goal is to protect an additional 2,000,000 acres of open land by 2015. Our work is concentrated in two main programmatic areas.
First, CCT advances conservation statewide by working to increase statewide funding, to expand the tools for conservation, and to help raise the performance of conservation organizations.
Second, CCT focuses on increasing private conservation philanthropy and ensuring that these funds are intelligently invested. We help individuals, families and foundations make a visible and lasting impact with their conservation dollars while tailoring projects to meet each donor’s charitable goals. CCT operates much like a statewide community foundation - we are able to design highly leveraged funding opportunities - a donor’s gift can stimulate investments that are 5 to 10 times the size of the original gift and accomplish larger conservation goals than the donor could achieve on his own.
