Staff
Brian Ross, Executive Director
Brian moved to CCT following a 27 year career with Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), one of the world’s preeminent real estate advisory organizations. Brian, an International Director with JLL, was President of the firm’s Leasing and Management division in the United States. He led the development of repositioning strategies for some of the country’s most notable office towers including the City Center complex in downtown Denver, Fox Plaza in Los Angeles, The Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco and US Bank Tower in Seattle. Prior to joining JLL, Brian worked for United States Senator Gary Hart concentrating on natural resource matters. He was directly involved in the negotiations of the 1980 amendment to the Wilderness Act which dramatically expanded federally protected wilderness acreage in Colorado. Brian is a Colorado native. He attended the University of New Mexico for his undergraduate degree and attended graduate school at the University of Colorado’s school of environmental design.
Lloyd Athearn, Deputy Director
P rior to joining CCT, Athearn spent a decade as the Deputy Director of the American Alpine Club, a Colorado-based national association of mountaineers and climbers, where he directed public policy, publishing and conservation-related projects. Before AAC, he served as a lobbyist and risk communicator at the Oregon Health Division, as well as an aide to the Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives and a Portland ( Oregon ) city commissioner. Lloyd received a B.A. from the University of Oregon with majors in History and Political Science, and he has pursued graduate study in wilderness management through the University of Montana 's School of Forestry.
Doug Robotham, Deputy Director of Policy and Programs
Before joining CCT, Robotham spent 7 years directing the Colorado Program of the Trust for Public Land (TPL). His extensive experience in natural resource protection includes serving as the Assistant Director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, specializing in water and endangered species policy, and serving in California Governor Pete Wilson's administration as Special Assistant to the Secretary for Resources, where he developed state policies regarding water, wetlands, and forest management issues. A Colorado native, Doug grew up on his family's ranch in North Park , Colorado and in Denver . He holds a Master's degree from Yale University 's Graduate School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermont.
Chris Herrman, Western Slope Field Director
Prior to joining CCT, Herrman served as Western Region Director of the Land Trust Alliance. In this capacity, he worked to strengthen the land trust movement in the West. Before LTA, Chris worked for the Brandywine Conservancy and the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy. He has been involved in all aspects of private land conservation including planning, protection and stewardship.
Aaron Drew, Development and Communications Officer
Prior to joining CCT, Drew served as a Field Organizer and Voter File Manager for the Louisiana Democratic Party. During that time he worked for the John Kerry Campaign and two congressional races. Originally from Colorado, Aaron graduated in 2002 from Colorado State University with a degree in Political Science and a certificate in Environmental Affairs. He is currently enrolled in the Nonprofit Management Master's Program at Regis University.
Lauren Swan, Finance and Administration Coordinator
Prior to joining CCT, Swan served the United States Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa as a Small Business Development Volunteer where she worked mainly in the microfinance sector with entrepreneurial development and women's savings groups. Living in New York City before Peace Corps, she worked for Check Group, LLC as an Executive Assistant and for Reich & Tang Funds in client interface. Lauren has a B.S. in Finance from the University of Florida and is currently enrolled in the International M.B.A. program at Denver University, where she will concentrate her studies in Environmental Policy and Management.
Ellen Olson, Conservation Program Coordinator
Before joining CCT, Olson was the Economic Development Coordinator in Chaffee County, Colorado where she worked to enhance small business development and build partnerships to further community development goals. A Colorado native, she lived in Salida for more than a decade where she managed to fall into co-ownership of a whitewater rafting company and spend time biking, hiking and rafting around the West. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA in Environmental Science and Middle Eastern History
