CCT Programs & Accomplishments
2004 Successes
CCT celebrated growth and success in 2004 with the establishment of new programs, new conservation opportunities in different Colorado regions, and new partnerships. Highlights from the year include:
- 100% participation by the Board of Directors and Trustees in financially supporting CCT. Thanks to their generous gifts, all of CCT’s administrative and fundraising costs are covered for 2005. Every dollar we raise beyond this point in 2005 will be devoted to protecting the special places of Colorado.
- 98% of all dollars spent in 2004 were invested directly into conservation programs and projects.
- CCT awarded nearly half a million dollars in strategic conservation investment packages. Those dollars are helping to protect 20,000 acres of Colorado’s open lands and expand the land preservation efforts of local conservation groups.
- In response to CCT’s increased involvement in land conservation in Western Colorado, CCT established a Western Slope office. With CCT assistance and expertise present, our Western Slope activities and investments grew exponentially in 2004.
- CCT launched a fellowship program to develop future conservation leaders. Four CCT fellows who recently completed graduate degrees were placed with land trusts throughout the state for one to two years to assist the organizations in achieving more of their goals.
- In partnership with national and statewide land trusts, CCT played a key role in advancing a new statewide multi-million dollar public funding measure for conservation and a program to assess and improve the practices of Colorado land trusts.
