Ways to Give

Give a Gift of Cash, Stock, Bonds, or Other Securities

Give a Gift of Cash
If you itemize, gifts of cash are fully deductible - generally, up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. For example, if your 2004 adjusted gross income is $100,000, up to $50,000 of charitable gifts may be deducted. If your total gift exceeds this limit, the excess may be carried forward for tax purposes for up to five years. Gifts of cash to CCT can by made by check or credit card.

Give Appreciated Stock, Bonds or Other Securities
Giving long-term appreciated stock, bonds or other securities offers you a two-fold tax savings. You avoid paying capital gains tax on the increase in value of the stock. You also receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift. For income tax purposes, these gifts may be deducted up to 30% of adjusted gross income, with a five-year carry forward.

Give a Gift in Honor or Memory of Someone Special
An honor or memorial gift is a thoughtful and unique way to remember a loved one or honor a special person or event. While memorial gifts are made in memory of someone, honor gifts are given for any occasion including weddings, anniversaries, holidays, and birthdays.

The Colorado Conservation Trust notifies the specified beneficiary of the honor or memorial gift and sends an acknowledgment letter to the donor thanking him or her for supporting the protection of Colorado’s open lands.

Purchase Conservation Tax Credits
and Donate Your Tax Savings

By purchasing conservation tax credits, buyers save 15% off their Colorado income tax bills and facilitate conservation transactions.  Buyers can then donate back some or all of their savings to CCT, stimulating even more conservation.  Donors may be able to donate back almost twice their savings without any cost to them, assuming they can take advantage of charitable tax deductions as well.

Employer Matching Contributions
Your gift could be doubled or tripled by your employer.  Ask your human resources department about your company’s charitable matching gift program. Back to the top
